Sherman introduced a bill immediately following the very unfortunate helicopter crash that resulted in the death of 9 souls including that of Kobe Bryant.
The bill requires commercial helicopters to have Terrain Awareness Warning Systems (TAWS) installed.
Sherman, is not a pilot though he introduced a bill as a shameless attempt to attract the "basketball fan" vote. The bill of course went NOWHERE....though what did get mentioned in the newspapers over his shameless stunt!
Here is another bill he introduced that actually did get enacted into law. Here is the Wall Street Journals editorial explaining how stupid he was by introducing a bill, that became law and made nothing but a huge mess!
